Take Me to the Other Side...
Did you know that Facebook has an abyss where
messages from non-friends are banished?
This wasteland of sorts is called the “other”
folder.
Imagine my surprise when I discovered (about a year
ago or longer) 12 messages from people trying to get in contact with me. These messages were hidden in a land called “Other”. Most of these messages were from people
asking if I was so-and-so that they knew from long ago, but sadly, one of the
messages was from the sister of a friend telling me that my friend had passed…I
did not get the message until 2 months after it had happened.
How do you find this Facebook purgatory so you can
avoid missing important news?
If you are on a PC, go to your news feed. Then click once on the word “messages”. This will create a drop down where—VOILA—the “Other”
folder appears. Open it up and discover
what you too have been missing!
**Just a side note:
I am not quite sure how to or even if you can access this from your
mobile. Hopefully someone will come
along to help answer that enigma**

Dear Mr. Sutter, why must you play with our emotions? **WARNING: SPOILERS**
Yesterday, Kurt Sutter tweeted a link to an
Entertainment Weekly article (thank you Amanda for pointing it out to me) that had
me OH NO-ing out loud. Since the
posting, Sutter again tweeted the link to the article and this morning tweeted “this
is happening…I suggest you show up or twitter will spoil.”
Speaking of spoilers—if you don’t want to know any more
STOP READING HERE!!!
**SPOILER ALERT**
Season 5 is off to a killer start….literally. To give you all the cliff notes version, the
EW article states that “in Tuesday’s [September 25] episode, a very important
person within the SAMCRO family will die.”
The article did not say which character will be leaving us, but did give
a list of six possibilities. Unser, Tig,
Clay, Juice, Opie, and Tara.
Several SOA fan sites have been buzzing with this
news and have created polls to see who fans think will meet their end. So of course this got me thinking….will it be
the obvious choice or will it be something that is going to totally blow the
minds of viewers?
Here is my thought and the “logic” behind it (from
the way I would write it if I were Sutter)
It won’t be:
Unser:
He is just starting his personal investigation into the Charming break-ins. It
is too soon to have him killed. However, I can see him not making it through the
season.
Clay:
There
would be little controversy on the show without Clay Morrow. By now, most of you know that it is the
newest members of SAMCRO who have actually broken into the homes and that they
stole a safe from the Morrow residence containing birth certificates and other
documents. What is Clay hiding?
Juice:
Various
characters keep mentioning RICO. Romero
mentioned to Jax that someone on the inside must have been feeding info to the
Feds. Roosevelt has made mention of it
to Juice. I don’t think this storyline
has played out enough for Juice to be the one to go.
Tara: The brand new Mrs.
Teller has too much going on. The
chemistry between her and Gemma is just getting good! And let’s not forget Jax’s junkie ex, Wendy
who made an appearance late in last season.
Wendy is a feisty b***h and won’t give up her fight to see able so
easily. Then there is the upcoming
couple episode stint of Ashley Tisdale. Photos that I have seen from the
filming of her episodes have her riding on the back of Jax’s bike. Jax may be a “tough” biker, but I think if
Tara died he would be wrecked and would not be out gallivanting with Tisdale’s
character.
Tig:
He
is actually my second choice of who it might be. After everything he has gone through in the
first two episodes. But I still don’t
think it is him.
That leaves us with:
Opie:
Sadly,
I think it is going to be Opie. I think
something is going to go horribly wrong in that jail and he is going to die
defending his best friend.
Whether I am right or wrong, I truly don’t want to
see any of the characters go. And who knows, maybe it will be someone not on
the list. Maybe the list given to EW was
just a ploy to throw everyone off. But,
as Sutter said…this is happening. Guess we’re just going to have to wait and
see.
I don’t think there is one character on this show (good or bad) that I don’t love in one way or another...it's really rare to find that on TV these days...all I know is I just added Kleenex (the BIG box) to my grocery list!

Welcome To The Pee Pee Zone...
Imagine if you will, a highway….a seemingly normal
looking highway, yet something is just not right. Two cars and one U-haul travel together down
this road. Their intention: to get past
Richmond, VA. But little do they know,
they are about to enter into…..The PeePee Zone.
My family and close friends will tell you that I
have to pee…a lot…and usually at the most inopportune moments. In this particular case, we were doing the
1000 mile drive from Orlando to Pennsylvania.
It was the second day. Everyone
was tired and cranky. We made a gas,
drink, and pee stop somewhere in rural Virginia. My drink of choice? Starbucks Double Shot…..wrong choice!
I don’t think we were back on the road more than
thirty minutes when the urge hit me. I
tried to fight it. We were nearing the
city of Richmond and I knew that making a pit stop was not an option. I squirmed uncomfortably in my driver’s
seat. Then I knew it was inevitable….pee
was going to happen; my bladder hurt worse than when I had my ultrasound during
pregnancy. I called my mom who was in the car ahead of me to let her know that
we HAD to stop. No, I could not hold
it. No, we could not get off at an exit
and hope to find a bathroom. We had to
stop NOW!
So she pulled over on the side of I-95 and I jumped
out of the car. Luckily, growing up in South Jersey taught me how to pee
anywhere! So I opened both passenger side doors in order to shield my family
from witnessing my act. I am lucky that
I got my shorts down in time. Ahhhhh, so
much better…..but wait.....NO TOILET PAPER!
NO PAPER TOWEL! NO NAPKIN! Drip dry it is!
Although peeing on the side of the road on a major
highway is not the weirdest place I have pee’d (y’all are just going to have to
continue following this blog to hear that one), it is a memory that my family
still jokes about today!
My question to you dear readers and friends: Where is the weirdest place you have pee’d?

Cool as a cucumber? My SOA adventure...
Uh huh….suuuuurre…
Normally, when faced with the situation of meeting a
celebrity, I am a pretty calm person.
While living in Florida, I dealt with meeting/seeing them on a regular
basis. Even the few times I have come
across them here in SoCal, I was able to remain fairly calm; that is, until I
met the cast of Sons of Anarchy.
On August 26th, my lovely friend Amanda
and I took the 2 mile trip from my home to a local diner, Route 66. This was the starting point for the 2012 Boot
Ride organized by The Boot Campaign was set to start. Hundreds of riders would ride from Canyon
Country to Hollywood to support the Wounded Warrior Project, and the ride would
be led by the cast of Sons of Anarchy. So
Amanda and I ventured off to Route 66 with the hopes of catching a glimpse of
one or two members of the cast. We never
expected the day to go as it did.
We plopped our butt’s on a bench for a bit, since
there seemed to be little going on when we first arrived. Then it happened…
Our first glimpse of the SOA riders arriving was Mark Boone Junior (Bobby). |
Then Ron Perlman (Clay) pulled up in his car. In his car?
What? Eh, who cares, it’s RON
F***ING PERLMAN!!! I had, just had, to get a close up picture of
him. He is a favorite of one of my
bestest friends, so failing at this task was not an option.
As I was taking pictures, I looked beyond Ron and
saw Kim Coates (Tig), Theo Rossi (Juice), and various other cast members…..But
no Jax, no Opie…oh well, no biggie.
The cast was hustled into a fenced off area where only the people riding that day (the ones who donated to do so) were allowed in. Totally understandable. I have a pretty good camera, so I was content to just stand at the fence and watch. Amanda and I moved to a better position along the fence and just watched and snapped pictures. After the cast did their meet and greet with the other riders, they ventured under the tent to escape the hot, SoCal sun for a bit. Then I looked over and saw there were some new arrivals being greeted by their friends and fellow cast mates. I tapped Amanda on the shoulder and muttered something that may have sounded like “OMG, LOOK, LOOK, LOOK” as I pointed out to her that her favorite, Ryan Hurst (Opie) was standing among the rest of the cast. It was at that moment that the behemoth Hurst moved to the side, and I turned into this...
I pulled myself together and was able to snap off a few pics...
I had almost gotten over the initial shock that most of the cast was now standing about 50 feet away from me....and then it s**t got real...
Kim and Theo started walking towards *GASP* the fence. Holy crap! Were they actually coming over to talk to the fans???? This is when I totally lost my s**t!!!
The pic with Kim was totally worth the double chin. And Theo is one of the sweetest celebrities I have ever met. I do remember thanking them over and over and over again...yes, I was a blabbering idiot. And I remember Theo saying to me, it was his honor to spend time with the fans because the fans are what make the show (if only all TV personalities felt this way). Sadly, their time with us little people had to end. It was almost time for the ride to start.
Amanda and I wandered to the area where all the SOA bikes were parked and waited and waited.....and waited for the cast to emerge from the restaurant. Then it was time....

Abrams, Favreau, and Kripke??? YES PLEASE!!! **MINOR MINOR SPOILERS**
I am a sucker for any “oops, there goes the world’s
technology” TV show/movie. So when I
heard about the upcoming NBC show, Revolution,
I got excited (yeah, sometimes it doesn’t take much). Throw in the involvement of J.J. Abrams (LOST), Jon Favreau (Iron Man), and Eric Kripke (Supernatural)
and this girl almost blew a gasket! As
soon as it became available on my ATTUverse schedule, I set the DVR. But then a friend (thank you Leon) posted
that Comcast was running a free, On Demand preview for the pilot episode. I practically ran to my DVR to see if it was
available on Uverse, and lo and behold, there it was!!!! So on a lazy Sunday morning, I settled into
the recliner and got set to watch the pilot of Revolution.
It starts out as your typical, there go the lights
and now the world is in total devastation scenario—forcing people to go back to
the days pre-technology. The main story
takes place 15 years after the initial blackout. At this time, many live in small colonies,
protecting themselves from the dangerous, outside world of militias and
warlords, but when tragedy strikes, 3 people are forced to leave the comfort of
their community. And that, my friends,
is about as far as I go with spoilers.
In true Abrams’ fashion, I think we can expect
plenty of flashbacks, twists, and turns.
There is somewhat of a LOST feel
to the show; yet, somehow it is also completely different. Revolution’s
pilot episode, as expected, involves a lot of character building. The good news? After watching it the second
time, I can already remember most of the characters’ names. This is definitely a sign that 1) the show is
well written and 2) it must have sparked my interest.
The cast, so far, is
pretty likeable or hateable, depending on the situation. The protagonists are
played by Billy Burke (24, The Closer,
Twilight ) and newcomer Tracy Spiridakos (she has had plenty of one-two
episode roles on TV shows, plus some small parts in blockbuster films). Spiridakos brings her Heather Graham-esque
charm to the role, immediately likeable with her Little Mermaid, dreamer qualities. The comedy relief is brought with the
character of Aaron, a young, Steve Wozniak type played by another newcomer, Zak
Orth (who has also done various bit parts on television). Elizabeth Mitchell (LOST, V) makes an appearance in the flashbacks of the pilot, but
will she reappear in the future? The
actor I was most excited to see in this first episode was Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, Once Upon a Time) as Captain
Neville. This man just plays bad so
well!
The only downside to
watching the pilot early is that now I have to wait 2 weeks for the next
episode! While I haven’t fallen
completely in love with this show yet, it does show promise, and I believe episode
2 will be the make it or break it episode for me…..so we shall wait!
In the meantime, if
anyone else wants to see it early, check your cable’s On Demand to see if it is
available. OR you can watch it online at
http://www.nbc.com/revolution/
.
Until next
time!!!! Hope you all have a rockin day!

The return of old friends...
When I was a kid (hold on to your hat folks, she’s
gonna date herself here), I remember looking forward to the Fall TV
season. Mainly because, during my
childhood, shows ended in late spring and did not return to the glorious little
box in our living room until fall. Going
back to school (we didn’t start mid-August, like so many schools today)
signaled the return of old friends and the anticipation of new ones. I could not wait for the Fall TV issue of the
TV Guide to arrive so I could map out what shows to watch! Summers, at that time, were for reruns and
not new reality shows and series. We had
3 major networks to choose from—ABC, NBC, and CBS. If you were lucky, your parents also paid for
HBO or the like. Fox was around, but did
not gain popularity until shows like the Simpsons and Beverly Hills 90210 (an
obsession I will explore in the future) launched the network into the mainstream
during my teenage years. CW came about
even later and was called the WB way back when.
AMC played movies. MTV played
*gasp* music videos. And VH1 was for old
people.
Today, I still look forward to Fall TV, but I also
look forward to Winter, Spring, and Summer TV.
So many year round choices now!
My “favorites” list is a long one….here goes
Sons of Anarchy, Glee, Once Upon a Time, The
Bachelor, The Bachelorette, Bachelor Pad, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Big Brother,
Survivor, Grimm, Supernatural, The Walking Dead, American Horror Story, Dancing
with the Stars, True Blood, Game of Thrones, The Office, Louie, Wilfred, Smash,
South Park…
I’m sure I missed some, and the list does not
include shows that have ended (may they RIP).
In the coming weeks, I will be reviewing the season
premieres of many of these old friends, as well as introducing y’all to some
new ones. So stay tuned!!!!
